In another incident of AIADMK poaching in the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam backyard, the brother of party founder Vijaykanth joined the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu in the presence of Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa.
Vijayakant’s brother, A Palraj, and his wife Venkatalakshmi, were among those who joined the AIADMK in the presence of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. She gave them AIADMK membership cards at a public meeting held here on March 28.
The DMDK has fielded D Sivamuthukumaran, in the Madurai Lok Sabha constituency.
The actor-turned-politician has been the main target of the AIADMK ever since the alliance between the two parties, forged for the 2011 Assembly elections, snapped.
Eight DMDK MLAs now back the ruling AIADMK. In December 2013, DMDK presidium chairman, Panruti S Ramachandran, had quit the party and resigned from membership of the Tamil Nadu Assembly from the Alandur constituency, and later joined the AIADMK in February 2014.
