AIADMK defends its stand to avoid criticism of BJP or Modi

Chennai:
The ruling AIADMK on March 25 has taken the stand that that there was no need for the party to criticise the BJP or its Prime Ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, as it is the Congress-led UPA that was responsible for the present crisis in the country.

AIADMK organ, Namadhu MGR, explanation has come as a reply to the query of CPM state secretary G Ramakrishnan as to why Chief Minister and AIADMK leader J Jayalalithaa was silent on the BJP and Modi during her poll campaign.

Asking why Modi should be targeted here, the AIADMK organ said “elections are held for the Lok Sabha. It is the ‘Italian Congress’ that joined hands with the DMK and swindled the nation. Where is the need to criticise the BJP and Modi?”.

The AIADMK explanation was that while the Congress-led UPA was involved in a series of scandals including the 2G spectrum scam, Adarsh Housing Society scam, the Commonwealth games scam and in purchase of helicopters, “there is no necessity to target the BJP”.

The AIADMK sought to know why Ramakrishan refers to secularism and DMK leader M Karunanidhi's statements but had spared the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam leader Vijaykanth who had reached an alliance with the BJP.

“That is why we have kept away from both saffron and khadi. The hue and cry of Mr. Ramakrishnan cannot divert the efforts of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to form a government that will secure the rights of Tamil Nadu,” Namadhu MGR said.
