Music maestro 'Isaignani' Ilayaraja suffered a mild cardiac arrest at his residence in Chennai on December 23, 2013.
The 70-year old legend, who has composed over 4000 film songs besides private albums, complained of chest pain.
Ilayaraja was rushed to a Apollo hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
Hospital sources said Ilayaraja's condition was stable.
He was likely to undergo an angioplasty procedure, sources said, adding, he has been advised rest for a few days.
Ilayaraja's latest work, Balu Mahendra's 'Thalaimuraigal' (Generations) had hit the screens recently, earning kudos especially for the re-recording.
National award-winning Ilayaraja has produced some of the biggest musical hits of southern cinema, including films of leading actors and directors, besides excellent work in Hindi films like 'Sadma', 'Cheeni Kum' and 'Paa', among others.
