Very severe cyclonic storm may cross coast near Puducherry on Nov 25

Chennai:
A severe cyclonic storm NIVAR over southwest Bay of Bengal moved northwestwards with a speed of 11 kmph during past six hours and lay centred at 0900 hrs IST of November 25, 2020 over southwest Bay of Bengal near latitude 10.0°N and longitude 81.3°E, about 110 km east-southeast of Cuddalore, about 120 km southeast of Puducherry and 140 km southsoutheast of Chennai.
It is very likely to intensify further into a very severe cyclonic storm during next 06 hours. It is very likely to move northwestwardsfor next 06 hours and cross Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mamallapuram near Puducherry on November 25 late evening or November 26 early morning as a very severe cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 120-130 kmph gusting to 145kmph.
Heavy rainfall is likely in 11 districts of Tamil Nadu.
