Eminent Carnatic vocalist R.Suryaprakash renders Shivrathri Carnatic concert

Eminent Carnatic vocalist R.Suryaprakash rendered a Carnatic vocal concert on the occasion of Maasa Shivrathri at Besant Nagar Vinayagar temple in Chennai on February 6, 2016.
He was accompanied by M Vijayaganesh on the violin and Sai Raghavan on the mridangam.
The programme began with Siddhi Vinayakam Anisam – raagam Shanmukhapriya - Rupakam thaalam, composed by Muthuswamy Dikshithar.
This was followed with Sevikka Vendum Ayya (Andholika, Adi), a Muthuthandavar composition.
Siva Siva Siva Ena Raadhaa (Pantuvarali, Adi) composed by Thyagaraja was sung effortlessly by Suryaprakash.
Innamum Sandeha Padalamoa (Keeravani, Misra Chapu), a Goplakrishna Bharathi composition, was the next song to feature in the programme.
Ka Va Va – (Varali, Adi), a Papanasam Sivan composition, was brilliantly rendered by Suryaprakash.
Virutham - Veyuru Tholi Pangan ...Asaru Nalla Nalla (Kambhoji, Kolaru Thiruppadigam – Thirugnanasambandar) was rendered by Suryaprakash as also Arumarundoru Thani Marundu (Kambhoji - Rupakam – Muthuthandavar), Enna Thavam Seydhanai (Kapi, Adi, Papanasam Sivan), Vande Mataram Aambikam (slokam, Ragamalika), Neeyallal Ini (Kaanada, Adi, GNB),
Eppadi Padinaro (Bhimplas, Adi, Suddhananda Bharathi), Thiruppugazh and Mangalam, Vazhiya Senthamizh.
Sai Raghavan provided a robust Thani while M Vijayaganesh gave excellent support.
Earlier, V Srinivasan, GM, Communications, Sri Krishna Sweets, welcomed the gathering and R. Rangaraj, President,. Chennai 2000 Plus Trust, explained the activities of the Trust to create awareness about the historicity of Chennai which is over 2,000 years old.
