Music director Rahman misses nomination at 89th Academy Awards

India's ace music director A R Rahman failed to make it to the final nomination list of the 89th Academy Awards. His name did not figure in the final nomination list released on January 24.
Rahman, who bagged two Oscars for 'Slumdog Millionaire' in 2009, hoped to make it to the final list with two nominations for 'Pele: Birth of a Legend'.
Rahman figured in the initial list of 145 scores bidding for a nomination in the Original Score category. 'Ginga', his number from the 2016 biographical film, was part of the list of 91 songs competing for a place in the final nominations for the Original Song category.
The nominations were announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The Oscars will be presented on February 26.
