Chennai: In a dog-eat-dog-world, rival film stars proved their friendship beyond their professional chores, by backing actor Srikanth’s production venture Nambiyaar.
While actor Sarathkumar presided over the audio release of the film, Suriya received the first copy and revealed that it was Srikanth’s interview to a media organization in 2002 that inspired him (Srikanth had said that his father said one should be number one in whatever you do, even if you have to take up the work of a cobbler).
Actors Arya and Jeeva too turned up for the audio launch and wished Srikanth and his Vandana (the oroducer) well. Arya has gone a step further and done a small cameo in the film.
Music director Vijay Antony, though busy in preparations for the release of his film Salim, too threw his weight behind Srikanth. Vijay Antony said the song Aara Amara sung by Santhanam was bound to be a hit, especially with the youth. Vijay Antony too has made a brief appearance in the film.
Director N Lingusamy said one should remember at least five scenes of a film long after the story is narrated. That way, Nambiyaar is bound to be a good film as Srikanth narrated several sequences to him, and he could remember most of them, Lingusamy added.
Actors Shaam, Vimal, Nakul, Krishna and Namithak were among those who felicitated Srikanth.
Thanking all his friends in the film industry who had supported his venture, Srikanth said the film is about a negative streak in a person which tried to prevent him from being a good human being. Everyone carried a negative streak, and the film is about the tussle to put down this negative aspect.
Nambiyaar also has Sunaina, John Vijay and others in the cast.
