AVM's Gen Next goes in for Internet movies

The fourth generation of the AVM group, a leading film production company in the country, is taking a different route -- production of movies for the Internet. Aruna Guhan and Aparna Guhan, daughters of M S Guhan, and grand-daughters of M Saravanan, have produced a feature film for the Internet market, treading new ground in a family which had concentrated on production and theatrical release of movies in several languages.
M Saravanan, son of the legendary A V Meiyappa Chettiar, who pioneered production of many films in various Indian languages and launched his own studio, blessed the venture of his grand-daughters, and said times have changed. "The youngsters want to do something different, in the new format of the Internet. We wish them well. They have put in a lot of hard work, and the film has come out really well," said Saravanan.
M S Guhan, a proud father, said a fourth generation of the family has chosen to do films for the Net. The film is meant for a different market and they are working out the strategies to reach the people.
The 55-minute film is directed by Anil Krishnan and Srihari Prabaharan and has Shivaji Dev, grandson of late Sivaji Ganesan, as its hero.
The movie is about a family caught in a traumatic situation after Gautam is shocked over the sudden death of Ramya, a girl he was to marry, in a car accident. The agony of Gautam affects the entire family, as Gautam struggles to come to grips with the new situation. Later, with passage of time, Gautam overcomes the loss and agrees with the family proposal to marry another girl. Gautham is played by Shivaji Dev.
