Chennai:
India Classic Arts, Bangalore and Masscom Productions, Coimbatore have planned to make a biopic on Tamil nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa. The question is has the AIADMK supremo okayed the film?
No, it hasn't reached that stage yet. Roopa Iyer, director of Chandra, says the film could be titled Parivartan (Transformation) and could be a bi-lingual movie in English and Tamil.
Roopa Iyer said the idea is to make a biographical film based on her life in an objective and balanced manner. The film would focus on her artistic, personal and political life but there would be no distortion of facts or controversies.
The unit plans to take Jayalithaa's prior approval of the script, which would in any case be done after extensive research.
Once the unit obtain an in-principle okay from Jayalalithaa, the cast and crfew would be finalised.
A formal letter has been sent to Jayalalithaa seeking her approval and also a meeting with her to gather inputs personally from the CM. Needless to say, the director has said the film would be released only after Jaya's clearance.
Now, Parivartan -- isn't that Didi Mamata Banerjee's mantra in Bengal? Will Didi approve of the title especially when the film was on Jaya and not on her? We will never know till the moment of reckoning arrives.
