Chennai gets highest number of Public eToilets in the Country
* Completes 183 eToilets
* Mobile App for the Public & The Corporation Launched
* eToilet Usage is Free for the Public
The Greater Corporation of Chennai has announced the completion of another phase of installing eToilets at 91 locations, taking the total number of eToilets to 183 in Chennai, marking a milestone for Chennai Corporation and Kerala-based innovator Eram Scientific Solutions. Chennai has thus achieved the unique distinction of being the number one city in India in terms of installation of eToilets.
Eram Scientific, the sole manufacturers of this patent pending product, also brought out a couple of mobile appsto ensure more awareness and accessibility of the innovative eToilets. Chennai also thus becomes the city with highest number of public eToilets in the country.
At a function here on February 29, Honorable Mayor Saidai Duraisamy launched the eToilet Mobile apps in the presence of a host of dignitaries including Deputy Mayor P. Benjamin, Commissioner Dr. B.Chandra Mohan I.A.S, Corporation Officials, Eram Scientific CEO Thiru Anvar Sadath K, among others.
“The Corporation identified eToilet as a reliable and sustainable sanitation solution. We are happy to know that the public has accepted the new solution well, ” the Mayor said.
The Mayor said the Honourable Chief Minister, Dr J Jayalalithaa had shown admirable vision and foresight with the project of providing eToilets at various locations in Chennai, that too free of cost, for the benefit of the citizens. This will also help improve hygiene and sanitation and cleanliness in Chennai, and would reduce public defecation, he added. He thanked the Chief Minister for allocating funds for the project.
Eram Scientific has installed over 1600 eToilets in different locations across 19 States in India and Chennai has become the city with the highest number of eToilets, thanks to the Corporation.
The mobile app for the user will help locate the nearest eToilet via map and address listing, explain the operations, provide information like napkin vending machines, sharing feedback on the user experience and suggesting alternative places. The app for monitoring for the corporation officials will collect usage statistics, health status, water condition, facilities available and generate reports on usages. The authorities can thus smoothly address the issues and resolve them within no time.

Eram Scientific has won over 41 national and international awards. The age-old issues with conventional toilets such as lack of cleanliness, lack of manpower to maintain it etc. are effectively replaced with the unmanned, automated cleaning, remote access and 24x7 open features of eToilet.
eToilet is a modular, prefabricated public toilet made of fully stainless steel 304 grade, integrated with electronic systems to ensure cleanliness and hygiene for every user. eToilet is easy to install and occupies just 35 sq.ft space and can be placed on a civil platform with granite flooring or metal base, as per the site conditions. The interiors of eToilet provide a comfortable ambience in terms of look, feel and functionality. The well-lit interiors with LED lights glows only when a person enters and has natural ventilation as well as offers privacy and safety.
The eToilets are equipped with a press switch for free access, sensor-enabled exhaust fan and light, stainless steel platform with SS Indian style closet, health faucet, exhaust fan, stainless steel wash basin, overhead water tank of 225 liters and UPS for power backup. Printed “How To Use” stickers aid the users in using the eToilet and voice guidance is also provided inside the eToilet. The external panels of the eToilets are suitable of advertisement display.
The USP of eToilet is its self-washing and cleaning mechanisms which comprises of automatic pre-flushing before entry, automatic flushing after use, automatic floor cleaning after fixed intervals. eToilet has sensors for water and electricity conservation and hence uses less water and power. eToilets are 100% environment friendly and is developed on a holistic convergence of the latest technologies in electrical, mechanical, web and mobile.
EToilets can be connected to existing sewer line/ septic tank and Client can also adopt treatment technologies such as the DRDO Bio digester. Eram Scientific is an authorized licensee and TOT holder of the Bio digester technology.
