Chennai 2000 Plus Trust is organising a special Talk on Chennai and Agathiyar by Thiruppur Krishnan on February 20, 2016, at Marundheeswarar Temple, Thiruvanmiyur.
The programme that is being held in association with Sri Krishna Sweets will be held at 6.30 p.m.
Sage Agathiyar had a special role in Chennai, especially at the Tiruvanmiyur temple since Lord Siva appeared before him after his penance there. Lord Siva explained to him the value of various medicinal herbs with their special medicinal properties which could various diseases. Agathiyar later released this to the world so that people could cure themselves of illnesses with the help of Shiva's advice. That is why Siva is revered at Thiruvanmiyur as Marundheeswarar and that is why the temple is known as Marundheeswarar Temple.
The editor of Amudhasurabhi, Thiru Thiruppur Krishnan, will explain about this special connection between Agathiyar and Thiruvanmiyur, Mylapore and other places.
