The Hindu on March 27 launched a separate Eastern Edition with a sharper focus in terms of news and features relating to West Bengal, Odisha and the States of the north-east.
An announcement by Kasturi and Sons, which runs The Hindu, said, "In tune with the newspaper's 135-year-old tradition, this tailored edition will provide to readers in the region, quality journalism with a mix of regionally relevant news as well as news of national and international significance, informed and varied commentary and a wide range of features."
"The edition will offer two extra pages exclusively for readers in Eastern India. Page 2 of the Edition will have news from Odisha and the north-eastern States and Page 3 news from Kolkata, generated mainly by our own news bureaus," The Hindu revealed.
"Our effort will be to help the reader start the morning with this re-energised offering," it added.
