Plus 2 pass percentage shows slight increase, girls better boys

The results of the Plus 2 higher secondary examinations in Tamil Nadu has shown a percentage of 91.4, marginally above 90.6 percent of the previous two years.
The results declared on May 17 showed that of the 8.3 lakh students who appeared across the State, the pass percentage of girls was 94.4 and that of boys, 87.9.
Students from small towns and villages had also performed extremely well.
Two students, Aarthi and Jaswanth, from Vidya Mandir school in Oothangarai, Krishnagiri district, secured the State first rank with a total of 1,195. Pavithra G. from Tiruvallur and Velupreetha from Namakkal came second and third with a total of 1194 and 1193, respectively.
4.19 lakh girls and 3.41 lakh boys took the exams this year.
The number of centums in Physics dropped from 124 the previous year to five. In Mathematics too, the number of centums declined from 9,710 to 3,361 this year.
Accountany had the highest number of students with centum -- 4,341 students.
