Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia will host the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) which will be held for the first time in Southeast Asia on September 12 and 13, 2014, in Kuala Lumpur. The highly acclaimed award event was announced by Vishnu Induri, Chairman of South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) and Tony Nagamaiah, General Manager of Malaysia Major Events (MME), in Kuala Lumpur on August 14.
Supported by Malaysia Major Events, the prestigious awards event recognises talent and excellence of the South Indian movie industry on a global platform.
The launch was also graced by highly acclaimed Indian film actor and producer, Surya, as well as popular actors Rana Daggubati, Shriya Saran and Vidyut Jammwal, who truly brought the glamour of the big screen alive. In addition to the celebrities present, a special preview of upcoming movie
Anjaan, an action thriller, starring Surya and Samantha was also showcased at the launch.
Speaking at the launch, Tony Nagamaiah, General Manager, Malaysia Major Events, said SIIMA is an excellent opportunity for Malaysia to strengthen its association with the South Indian film industry.
Nagamaiah said, “We have a good relationship with the South Indian film industry and we look forward to be part of its continued growth. Hosting SIIMA is testament to Malaysia as being a preferred destination for top-class events and also gives us the opportunity to increase global exposure on the unique experiences Malaysia has to offer”.
“This event will give fans a great opportunity to experience the South Indian cinema industry’s excitement, glamour and abundance. We believe this event will attract fans from around the region and contribute more than 20-25 million UDS in estimated tourist expenditure,” he added.
Over hundred Indian movie stars will grace the red carpet and fans can look forward to a star-studded event with performances from several top stars including Tamanna, Anirudh, Devi Sri Prasad, Shriya Saran, Shiv Rajkumar, Lakshmi Menon, Nivin Pauly, Regina, Rakul preet etc.
Brinda Prasad, Chairperson of SIIMA said, "I would like to thank the star cast of Anjaan who have extended their support in flagging off the celebrations of the 2014 edition of SIIMA. Some of the leading nominations for 2014 include Attarintiki Daredi for 12 categories in Telugu; Drishyam & Amen for 8 categories in Malayalam; Googly for 11 categories in Kannada.
