Chennai:
The XII city civil court in Chennai has stayed the release of Tamil movie 'Saivam,' directed by Vijay, and posted the matter to April 17 for hearing.
On January 1, SG Films Pvt Ltd filed a petition against director Vijay, producer A L Alagappan, production company Think Big Studios and technology provider Real Image Media Technology stating that the director had not honoured an agreement with it.
Counsel for SG Films Pvt Ltd N R S Pandian said Vijay approached SG in June 2012 regarding a film which he planned to direct. SG provided him Rs 1.5 crore as advance for the story, screenplay,
dialogue and for direction. However, Vijay didn't proceed with the film but instead directed the movie 'Thalaiva.' Later, he took up another project, 'Saivam,' said SG.
It then moved the court seeking an interim injunction against the release of the film Saivam.
An assistant judge stayed the release of the movie on April 10 and posted the matter to April 17 for hearing.
The film features Nassar and child actress Sara Arjun in the lead roles.
