How Siva bhakt Ravana met with death despite boons from Siva

Chennai 2000 Plus Trust present a special lecture on Siva Bhaktiyum, Ravananum at Vadapalani Sivan Temple (Vengeswarar Koil) on June 4, 2016. The lecture was provided by Thiru Thiruppur Krishnan, Editor, Amudhasurabhi magazine.
Chennai 2000 Plus Trust organises several programmes in Chennai and suburbs on history, culture and fine arts.
Ravana was regarded as one of the foremost devotees of Siva. The lecture threw light on Ravana's Siva Bhakti, his unswerving loyalty to Siva and his digressions and faults. The story of Ravana is that of a devotee who went astray. Ravana paid for his confrontation with Siva, when he tried to lift and move the Kailasa mountain but Siva trapped his arm below the mountain and let him off only after severe warning. Thiruppur Krishnan narrated how Siva bhakt Ravana met with death despite getting several boons from Siva after long periods of penance.
When Ravana began to act too big for his boots, Siva too joined the other Gods and Goddesses in helping Rama defeat him, though Ravana believed that Siva would always stand by him and protect him.
